Chiropractic Care When You’re Feeling Down In today’s hectic world, mental wellness is just as important as physical health, though it’s often overlooked. While many people turn to therapy or medication for mental health support, chiropractic care offers a unique, natural approach to improving overall well-being. Chiropractic care focuses on correcting subluxations—misalignments in the spine that can disrupt the body’s natural communication system, the nervous system. When your spine is properly aligned, your body functions more optimally, helping to restore balance and support your body's natural ability to heal. This not only improves physical health but can also contribute to mental and emotional wellness. Research suggests that chiropractic adjustments can promote hormonal balance, leading to increases in endorphins and other hormones associated with mood regulation. By supporting the body’s natural processes, chiropractic care can help promote a sense of well-being, making it a valuable part of your overall health routine. A study published in the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research found that participants experienced significant improvements in mental health after receiving chiropractic adjustments, with reductions in anxiety and depression. Chiropractic care isn’t just about addressing physical concerns—it’s a holistic approach that can positively impact both body and mind. If you're feeling mentally down, consider adding chiropractic care to your wellness routine to support your body's natural healing abilities and promote a healthier, happier you. "Let’s Talk About a Pain in the Butt... Literally!" Okay, I’m about to share something a little embarrassing, but important. Two weeks ago, I had hemorrhoid surgery. Yep, you read that right. I wasn’t planning on talking about it, but I realized it’s a common problem that people often ignore, and that can lead to more serious health issues. So, I’m putting it out there—because if sharing this helps even one person take action, it’s worth the temporary awkwardness. Now, I eat a pretty healthy diet—mostly vegetarian—but, as it turns out, genetics have a bigger say in this matter than kale or quinoa. I had a banding procedure done, which is a 15 minute in office (but not fun) treatment for hemorrhoids, and I’ve actually had it done before. About 11 years ago, I had the same procedure and felt so great afterward that I drove to New Jersey the next day to give a lecture. No pain, no problem. But this time? Let’s just say I’m glad I took a day off afterward, because the next day, the pain really hit me hard. However, now I'm feeling great and the problem is all solved... again. Here’s the takeaway: Don’t ignore medical symptoms. As much as I believe in the power of chiropractic adjustments to help the body heal and function better, not every problem can be solved with an adjustment. If you’ve got something going on, don’t put it off—get it checked out by your MD. And while you’re at it, make sure to get your spine checked regularly so your body can function at its best. After all, optimal health takes a team effort! I want to share a few pictures |
with you from our recent trip to Smugglers Notch and Stowe VT. Less than a 3 hour car ride away there's incredible beauty and peace atop Mt. Mansfield and the many hikes throughout Smugglers Notch. Make sure you take the time to 'sharpen the saw', to rest and be recharged and to get back into nature. My wife and I went on a hike through an arctic alpine forest zone that ended at the highest peak in Vermont. Along the mountainous hike and at the summit, we both independently felt somehow 'closer to God.' There was something about the crisp air, the breathtaking views, and the stillness of nature that brought a deep sense of peace and connection. The grandeur of creation seemed to open our hearts, and in those moments, God felt so near—like His presence was wrapped around us in every gust of wind and every step we took. Psalm 19:1 (NIV): "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Just like the majesty of the mountaintop spoke to us, this verse reminds us that all of creation is a testimony of God's greatness. When we stand in awe of nature, it's as if creation itself is shouting praises to God, drawing us nearer to Him. Romans 1:20 (NIV): "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." This verse reassures us that God’s presence is felt and known through His creation. As we experienced that overwhelming sense of closeness to Him, it was His eternal power and divine nature shining through the beauty around us. In the end, it was a reminder that God can meet us anywhere, especially in the beauty of His creation. Whether on a mountain peak or in the quiet moments of everyday life, we just need to slow down and open our hearts to feel His presence. Creation is a constant invitation to draw near to Him, and moments like these remind us of His endless love and majesty.
I used to be able to do cartwheels. Now I tip over putting on my underwear. I hate it when I see an old person and then realize we went to high school together. My wife says I only have 2 faults. I don't listen and something else... The officer said, "You drinking?" I said, "You buying?" We just laughed and laughed. Now, I need bail money. Day 12 without chocolate. Lost hearing in my left eye. A Dog accepts you as the boss. A Cat wants to see your resume. Life is too short to waste time matching socks. Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family. They seem like nice people. I won't be impressed with technology until I can download food. Some people call me crazy. I prefer happy with a twist. I really don't mind getting old, but my body is having a major fit. Camping: where you spend a small fortune to live like a homeless person. Project Manager. Because Miracle Worker isn't an official job title. I told my wife I wanted to be cremated. She made me an appointment for Tuesday. Measure once, cuss twice I've reached the age where my train of thought often leaves the station without me. If you're happy and you know it, it's your Adjustment. 🎶 :) A Prayer for October Dear Heavenly Father, As we step into this new month of October, I lift up my patients and their families to You. I ask that You watch over them, guiding their steps, protecting their hearts, and filling their lives with Your abundant grace and peace. Lord, I pray for healing—physical, emotional, and spiritual—over everyone who walks through the doors of Bright Light Chiropractic. May You, the ultimate Healer, touch their bodies and bring them the restoration and health that only You can provide. I ask that each adjustment be a reflection of Your divine touch, bringing alignment not only to the spine but also to the soul. Thank You for the trust they place in me to care for them. Help me to serve each patient with compassion, kindness, and wisdom, always mindful that true healing flows from You. As the leaves begin to change and the season shifts, may this month be a time of transformation and renewal in all areas of life. May we all be reminded of Your unchanging love in every season, and may Your light shine brightly through us, bringing hope and healing to those we encounter. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
