Multi-Vitamin Update (Hopefully the last one)

So, you may have noticed that I was a little wishy washy between the AG1 and the Huel Daily Greens. I felt that the Huel Daily Greens eeked out a slight advantage over the AG1 because of the lower price point.

Now after another two months of switching back and forth between the two, I've decided that you get what you pay for. Yes, the AG1 is about $30 a month more expensive than the Huel Daily Greens but I feel it's worth it. After going back and forth between the two again, I clearly felt more energy and felt better overall when taking the AG1 and the flavor is slightly better as well. Don't get me wrong, both taste great and both pack a punch as far as nutrients, superfoods and adaptogens but I think that the ever evolving AG1 formula is superior to the Huel when you get down to the common sense test which is how you feel while taking each supplement.

So, for those that tried the Huel Daily Greens, give the AG1 a try next. Look for the special intro pack with the free metal scoop, the metal canister to store the powder in, the shaker to mix it in, and the vitamin D and K drops that all come free with your first order.

OK, I'll stop obsessing over the Multi-vitamins and move on to something more interesting.

Business Spotlight

Be Well With Bowen

I get Bowenwork about once a month myself so I can vouch for Rachel personally.

Bowenwork® is a system of touch that initiates a series of responses through stimulation of the nervous, musculoskeletal, fascial and energetic systems of the human body.

Practitioners perform sequences of small stimulations, called moves, on specific points on the body, interspersed with rest periods. The Bowenwork moves stimulate mechanoreceptors (nerve endings) that overlie both muscles and acupoints. The body’s response to this stimulation, which begins during the rest periods, includes a balancing of the autonomic nervous system and changes in the musculoskeletal system in the direction of increased symmetry. These effects, in turn, remove blockages to the free flow of energy in the body. From the point of view of complementary health care, when the body’s nervous and energetic systems are in balance, its physical, emotional and mental functions are able to return to a healthy state.

How My Faith Brought Me To This Part Of New Hampshire

I get asked this question all the time. The truth is that I had a very busy practice in Rhode Island but because of circumstances beyond my control and vaccine mandates that I could not comply with due to my firmly held religious beliefs, I decided to close the office and leave the state. In my mind there is nothing more important that our right to choose what goes into our bodies which is called bodily autonomy. Rhode Island did not have a provision for a religious objection or a provision to accept the positive blood test I provided to prove immunity to the virus or a conscientious objection for lack of long term safety data so we came to the Live Free or Die State of New Hampshire. My wife and I began to visit New Hampshire looking for a place to settle down and begin our lives here. We agreed to visit towns throughout the state from Keene to Portsmouth, from Nashua to Littleton, the lakes region to Monadnock to Mt. Washington and all points in between. Our agreement was to find a church that we could call home in a town we liked and then find a place to live near it. after much research and exploration of the state, our first church service was at One Church in Concord. We liked the service but we were looking for something slightly different. On the way home after a long and extensive search, we attended church at Concord's sister church in Bedford also called One Church and we knew we were in the right place. We have been attending church at One Church for the last 2 years we've lived in NH. Sometimes we go to the Bedford campus, other times we go see Pastor Mike in Manchester but we always feel at home and we're grateful to have found a faithful group of Christians who pray each week for One Person to Share God's Love With. Because of my experience, you can always be assured that your right to personal bodily autonomy will be respected at Bright Light Chiropractic. You can always be assured that if you want a place to come to and a person to speak to that loves Chiropractic and Jesus, and where we speak openly and honestly about both, Bright Light Chiropractic can and will be that place for you. If you want to share our vision of exposing each and every person's Worth and Value while ridding our community of the devastating effects of Vertebral Subluxations, we invite you to be a part of our Bright Light Chiropractic practice family. I'm so grateful to be living in New Hampshire and I'm so grateful for our awesome practice family and our church community which extends beyond our office walls and beyond our One Church buildings. Here's some valuable information from Dr. Courtney Meltvedt's article titled 'The Fourth Trimester: A Guide To Healthy Postpartum Recovery' in Pathway Magazine (an online Chiropractic magazine). Food Tips for Postpartum:

  • Breastfeeding burns approximately 500 calories a day!

  • Lean on pre-cooked or mixed frozen meals - and consider getting a full-size freezer for lots of space!

  • Consider a CSA or organic food-delivery program so that you can get fresh produce delivered to your door

  • Choose foods and meals that are easy to prepare and digest, like lightly cooked vegetables

  • Set up a meal train

  • Instead of focusing on losing weight as fast as possible, focus on a nutrient-rich diet that includes healthy fats like coconut oil, olive oil, and grass fed butter

How to Approach Rest During Postpartum:

  • Storing and prepping food allows you to spend more time resting

  • It can be hard to gauge how much activity is too much when you feel great or simply have a day where you have extra energy, but postpartum spotting is a sign that you need more rest

  • Take this entire fourth trimester as recovery time

  • Prioritize sleep over chores - they can wait! Ask for support with chores or hire a postpartum doula if your resources allow you to

  • Co-sleeping can help you get more rest because baby can fall back to sleep sooner when he’s closer to you

Postpartum Recovery with Chiropractic:

  • The rapid changes that occur in the body as the weight of the baby is suddenly no longer there can be better integrated when you receive chiropractic care.

  • Your body has produced a hormone called relaxin to soften the joints and ligaments and allow for your pelvis to open wide and birth your baby. As you begin to nurse your baby and carry him in your arms, you may find that you feel back pain and headaches again because this softness allows your joints to become misaligned more easily.

  • Your spine is trying to adjust to the absence of the baby in your belly. Chiropractic adjustments aid beautifully in this process to realign your spine and pelvis.

How about a few laughs?

And now a blessing and a prayer over you and your family

May the gentle adjustments we make to align your spine this joyous holiday season bring a sense of well-being that resonates through your entire being. May your days be filled with the warmth of good health, and may your spirits be lifted as we journey towards the coming year.

In the spirit of the season, I pray for each of you the gift of happiness – a happiness that radiates from within and touches the lives of those around you. May your hearts be light, and your smiles be contagious, creating a ripple effect of joy that extends beyond our community.

May prosperity find its way to your doorstep, not only in material wealth but in the richness of meaningful relationships, the abundance of positive experiences, and the fulfillment of your aspirations.

As we come together to celebrate the holidays, my prayer is for peace on earth. May the healing energy that flows through each adjustment extend beyond our practice and contribute to a world where compassion, understanding, and unity prevail. Let's share the unconditional LOVE of God with everyone we encounter and let us pray that they do the same until this world is fully healed.

Thank you for entrusting us with your health and well-being. It is our privilege to be a part of your journey towards wellness. May this season be a time of renewal and joy for you and your loved ones.

Father God, please bless our patients and their families with a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with health, happiness, prosperity, and peace. I pray this in your Son Jesus' mighty name. AMEN

With gratitude in Health and Faith, Dr. Jay, Kim, Nastassja, Kaitlin, Lori and Kerrie
