The Hurricane and a Positive Covid test

First and foremost, I'm interested in your safety. After all, I haven't accepted any new patients in the last 2-1/2 years so I've known all of you at least that long. You have become friends and family, I don't consider you just patients and I hope you knew that before I said anything. So, first of all batten down the hatches and get ready for whatever is coming our way tomorrow with our friend Henri. Know that I'll be praying for the safety of our practice family and our community. Secondly, after having tested negative for Covid on Sunday, I developed a sinus headache and congestion on Thursday night. I took extra Vitamin D and zinc as well as Echinacea, calcium lactate and another anti-viral herb Viranon. By Friday morning I was feeling great except being a little tired. Today I woke up and had no sense of smell though I still feel otherwise spectacular.. I got tested today and it confirmed that I'm one of the most Positive people you will ever meet. Yes, I tested positive for Covid... Bummer! That means that out of an abundance of caution, I will take 2 weeks off from the office from the time the symptoms first began and that was Thursday night. We will therefore be closed through September 2nd and re-open on September 3rd after I have two consecutive negative tests. There is however a silver lining. I've been through this virus first hand and having personally followed the advice I've given you by getting adjusted weekly, eating healthy, non-inflammatory foods, exercising daily, getting 6-8 hours of sleep a night, and taking daily supplements including vitamin D, zinc, omega 3, and other supplements I've spoken about in previous newsletters (found in the blog section of our website www.backtohealthri.com)... it was no match for my immune system. In other words, My innate immune system kicked the virus's butt in just 48 hours. I am part of the 99.97%. I've already had people wishing me well and praying for me. While I would never turn down a prayer, know that I feel 100% except for the loss of smell. If I hadn't tested positive, I would have felt fine to return to the office but I care too much for those I serve to do that. You've put your trust in me and my office over the years. I would never do anything to jeopardize that trust. Until I see you next, PLEASE Eat Well, Exercise, Keep your mind focused on positive things, Get 6-8 hours of sleep and I'll be back in the office on the 3rd with some expanded hours to catch up. I love and appreciate each and every one of you. In Health and Faith, Dr. Jay
