This month I'm going to share with you what I spend my time outside the office thinking about. Whether I'm studying the newest research in Chiropractic or studying the Bible or learning about quantum physics, my mind is always trying to apply what I've learned to helping my patients HEAL BETTER. I hope that what I am going to share in this newsletter is enlightening and helps you achieve your goal of healing and staying healthy. Some of what I'm going to share is a 'little heavy' but give it a chance. Applying these scientific and spiritual principles will help you achieve optimal health.
Is Prayer Necessary? That’s actually a quantum physics question when it comes to healing…
DD Palmer was the founder of Chiropractic. His son BJ was known as the developer of Chiropractic and he was not a huge fan of prayer. He wasn’t against prayer but he believed that it wasn’t necessary for healing. He reasoned that “If there is water in the tower and a hose is connected to the tower and the faucet was turned on, then the water will come out and prayer is not necessary for that to happen”. Along the same line of thinking, he believed that if a subluxation was found in the spine and corrected with an adjustment, innate could once again flow to all parts of the body un-interfered with and the body would heal itself without the need for prayer. That makes some sense but there are studies that prove that prayer before medical procedures increases the chances for a positive outcome. Perhaps both are right and healing is not as simple a process as just turning on a faucet. Perhaps the living organism is a collection of cells that that are made up of molecules that are made up of atoms which are made up of electrons and sub-atomic particles. Could it be that the sub-atomic particles which make up our human bodies are just waves of energy vibrating at specific frequencies and can be influenced by thoughts and prayers?(https://youtu.be/zodg4WwBovc)
It’s true that on a macro level the structure of the spine needs to be aligned or“in whack”and our patients perceive themselves as being“out of whack”when they are subluxated. We can determine if someone is subluxated or “out of whack” through objective findings such as posture analysis, palpation, x-ray, thermal scan, etc. We Chiropractors seek to realign the spine and facilitate the correction of a subluxation with an adjustment and thus “reconnect the hose to the water tower and turn the faucet on” but there’s more to the healing process than the mere physical act of reconnecting the brain to the tissue cell.
On a micro (quantum) level the vibration of the whole living system must be “in whack” as well. Thoughts are things and science proves that where the mind goes, the body follows. As a result, we can deduce that thoughts and prayers affect the microcosm of our body in profound ways. Prayer before surgery improves the outcome of the surgery. Why wouldn’t we believe that prayer before or during an adjustment would do the same?
Dr. Masaru Emoto’s experiments prove that a mere thought can change the crystalline structure of water when frozen. (https://youtu.be/FTORSP3uNMA) Since we’re made mostly of water and Dr. Emoto’s research demonstrates that prayer, an intention, a thought, or a vibration changes the properties of water, shouldn’t prayer be an essential part of the healing process? Prayer, intentions and thoughts affect all living tissues which contain water, including our own. So, at the very least,we need to be mindful of our thoughts, prayers and intentions both as healers and those seeking a healing.
Prayer is perhaps the most powerful mode of communication we humans possess. The difference between a random conversation and prayer is that prayers are a direct communication/ connection to God and God is LOVE. Prayer instantaneously connects us to a limitless source of LOVE, the most powerful force in the universe. Our human condition hinders the perfection of LOVE in and from our physical bodies but if we work towards becoming clean, empty vessels, agape love can flow perfectly through us and reside within us.
BJ Palmer repeatedly mentioned in his writings about “an adjustment with that special something”. I would go so far as to say that he was not alluding to just the specificity of the adjustment but to the AGAPE (unconditional) LOVE delivered with the adjustment. That kind of love is best demonstrated when it comes through us, not from us. If we are in prayer while giving an adjustment and/or receiving an adjustment, we are giving and/or receiving that adjustment while in direct communication with the source of all LOVE, LIGHT and LIFE (1 John 4:7,John 8:12,John 14:6) and that would be an adjustment with “that special something” indeed!
If we, as healers, perfect the art of an adjustment and simultaneously allow perfect, unconditional love to be delivered with the adjustment through us, the vibrational state of the patient can be improved simultaneously with the physical state of the patient allowing true and complete healing to occur. In other words,the goal of a Chiropractic adjustment is to help the physical body more closely approximate the perfection of the spiritual body.
Many might question this concept thinking it’s scientifically unsubstantiated however; quantum physics seems to suggest that through prayer, intention and observation we’re able to change the state of the electrons which make up the human body. That would suggest that the mere act of prayer, intention and observation are at least as important as the adjustment itself in creating a positive health outcome. The Chiropractor, in observing the patient during the adjustment, causes the electrons to behave more like a particle than a wave. The goal of the healer (Chiropractor), through prayer and meditation, should be to empty him or herself of the ego and fill themselves with Universal Intelligence (God) thereby allowing this Intelligence to make the adjustment without their ego observing the procedure. In this way the adjustment would be made through them, not by them, and the electrons would no longer be imprisoned as a particle but they would be freed allowing them to exist as pure energy in the form of a wave. In essence, the patient would be a‘bright light’after an adjustment.
There’s a story in the Bible about Jesus walking through a town with a big crowd around him. A woman who was suffering from terrible bleeding was trying to get close enough to Jesus to ask Him to heal her. The crowd was so large and so close to Jesus that it was impossible to get His attention. It was said in Luke 8:42-48 that the crowds were “pressed against him” but the woman pushed into the crowd and was able to touch the hem of his garment. Suddenly, Jesus stopped and asked, “Who just touched me?”…

But as he went, the multitudes pressed against him. 43 A woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her living on physicians and could not be healed by any 44 came behind him, and touched the fringe of his cloak. Immediately the flow of her blood stopped. 45 Jesus said, “Who touched me?”
When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes press and jostle you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”
46 But Jesus said, “Someone did touch me, for I perceived that power has gone out of me.” 47 When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared to him in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48 He said to her, “Daughter, cheer up. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
…Jesus perceived that the power had ‘gone out of Him’. What exactly did He feel? There are times that when my hands are placed on a patient, I feel them getting super-hot or I can feel an electrical phenomena but that doesn’t happen every time. I’ve come to realize that it’s not important what I feel during an adjustment. I’m just the conduit, not the source of the healing. Instead of praying that I’m given the power to heal, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s better to pray for the ability to empty myself of my ego and educated mind and allow God to do the healing through me. That has become my primary goal, my desire and the subject of my prayer and meditation as I prepare each morning to go to the office. My daily prayer is, “Lord God, Thank you, thank you, thank you for making me a Chiropractor. Empty me of me, fill me with you. Empty me of me, fill me with you.”
How interesting it is that the way for a healer to be able to control the healing of his or her patient is to STOP trying to be in control and merely surrender that control back to the Great Healer, Universal Intelligence which is God and allow Him to work through us. Instead of “trying harder”, the solution is to surrender more. The way to be a powerful healer is to admit that we are powerless. To be more helpful, we must recognize that we are helpless. In order to be great, we must become a servant. This is truly the ‘great reversal’ talked about in the Bible in Luke 13:30. Becoming a healer requires an understanding of quantum physics and The Bible which explain how being first can only be achieved by allowing everyone else to go before ourselves and how mastery is born out of meekness, not weakness but strength under control.
It’s my hope (and prayer) that every time you come to the office, although you may perceive that it’s me that’s adjusting you, that it’s actually God through the Holy Spirit that’s doing the real work in you, through me. And, when you leave the office it’s also my hope and prayer that you are both physically and spiritually healed, that your physical body more closely approximates the perfection of your spiritual body and that you are vibrating at the frequency of true health which is the frequency of Agape Love. I hope that, as a result, you become fully aware that you are once again a Bright Light.
