**The VIP cards have been such a big success that we're carrying them over into November! If you have referred someone into the office, please come get the Bright Light Chiropractic referral gift we have waiting for you. Thanks for all your referrals!!

Many of you expressed your concerns with me last month about SLEEP so I I'm dedicating this newsletter to sharing some information about sleep and the science of sleep. Did you know that Chiropractic may help you overcome Insomnia, chronic tiredness and the other health conditions that come from trouble sleeping which are often secondary to Subluxations of the spine? You'll learn about that and more in this newsletter.

So, as you can see, the benefits of sleep are more than may have met the eye. New research shows that if you don't like GMO foods, you definitely want to get more sleep! Even a single hour of sleep lost can negatively effect the genes in your body altering you at the level of your DNA. In this and other studies disrupted sleep was shown to cause damage to your DNA and damaged DNA has been shown to lead to chronic health conditions.

All that's well and good but what are some good suggestions to combat poor sleep?

So, as you can see, Chiropractic care can have a profound effect on your ability to get deep, sound sleep. Check out the chart below particularly at C1 at the top of the chart to see the effects of a subluxation at that level. Chiropractic adjustments detect and correct subluxations.

How about some other good suggestions for getting a better sleep in addition to a Chiropractic Adjustment?

How about the pillow and the position you sleep in? Does that matter?... YUP!

How about supplements that may help you get a better sleep? Here are my suggestions:

For sleeplessness, use 4 Min-tran (which is sort of a mineral tranquilizer as the name implies) OR 4 Min-Chex (both are equally supportive of good sleep) and 4 E-Z Mg along with 1 Kava Forte or Valerian Complex if you prefer that herb BUT note that you should not take these supplements if pregnant, nursing, or taking any antithyroid medicines.

AS you know, Nutrition is not Chiropractic so we don't carry supplements in the office but you can get your own account with Standard Process by going to WWW.StandardProcess.com/Patient-Direct/patient-registration and enter the patient direct code of NR4JQE. Standard process will send me an email to confirm that you're a patient of mine and once I reply to that email, you'll be able to order any supplement from their line that you are interested in.

How about mattresses?

There are so many kinds that there's not a one size fits all anymore. In fact that it's pretty rare that spouses sleeping in the same bed will both be comfortable with the same type of mattress (sorry). Here's a good infographic about mattress types with pros and cons and the link back to that website with even more details is here: https://www.sleepadvisor.org/mattress-types/

OK, I think we just about covered every part of the importance of sleep, how best to sleep, the importance of Chiropractic care in sleep and other topics you've asked about. Now, how about some Jokes that won't leave you snoring?

My deaf girlfriend was talking in her sleep last night.

Nearly poked my eye out.

Just five more minutes.

I think I’ll sleep on it.

And Now, Dear God, as I lay me down to sleep, relax the tension of my body; calm the restlessness of my mind; still the thoughts which worry and perplex me. Help me to rest myself and all my problems in your strong and loving arms. Let your Spirit speak to my mind and heart while I am asleep, so that, when I wake up in the morning, I may find that I have received in the night-time, light for my way; strength for my tasks; peace for my worries; forgiveness for my sins. Grant me sleep tonight, and tomorrow power to live.

In Health and Faith,

Dr. Jay, Kim, Lori and Nastassja
